Don Rickles Biography

 Don Rickles was an American stand-up comedian, author, and actor. He was a well-respected and highly regarded entertainer. His quick wit and funny remarks, accompanied by his genuine affection for his audience made him an irresistible combination of amusement, fun and laughter. The ability of his insults to sound funny and inoffensive made him a regular on celebrity roast circuits. The crude and hurtful remarks were a source of ridicule however the person receiving them would always be laughing. Although he started out as a typical comedian, with scripted jokes in his mind, he quickly realized that his impromptu remarks were much better than his written material. His unique style of comedy drew him a number of fans that included the great Frank Sinatra. He released two comedy albums and appeared in a variety of film and TV shows. He received numerous prizes, like a Lifetime Achievement award at The Comedy Awards. His style of comedy that incorporated insinuations earned him many nicknames such as "The Merchant of Venom" The Insultan'and "Mr. He was a stand-up comic and earned a number of nicknames, including "The Merchant of Venom" and 'The Insultan' 'Mr. In order to supplement his income Rickles started performing stand-up comedy. He eventually became known as an 'insult comedian'. The 1970s saw him take on an important part in the movie "Kelly's Heroes" (1970), starring Clint Eastwood. He also appeared on television comedy shows like "The Don Rickles' (1972) or "The Dean Martin Roasts" (1973). Barbara Sklar, Don Rickles's wife, got wed to him on March 14, 1965. The couple had two kids, Mindy (the daughter) and Larry (the son). Their son died in 2011. His most cherished acquaintance was Bob Newhart and the two often went on vacation together along with their wives. They had appeared together on many shows, including "Newhart" as well as Don Rickles died from kidney failure on April 6, 2017 in his Beverly Hills, California, home.
