Rosamund Pike
Born in London
in 1979, Rosamund Elizabeth Pike is an actor. She is the only child of a
classically trained violinist mom Caroline (Friend) as well as an opera singer
father Julian Pike. Due to her parents' job, she spent much of her childhood
travelling around Europe. Pike attended Bristol's Badminton School and started
acting at the National Youth Theatre. Pike first appeared in the National Youth
Theatre production "Romeo and Juliet". She was then signed by an
agent after being discovered. Pike also began acting at the National Youth
Theatre. Although her first film was a huge-budget action movie, her film work
was mainly in smaller independent movies like Promised Land (2004) and The
Libertine (2004). She was awarded the Best Supporting Actress Award at The
British Independent Film Awards for this film. Pride & Prejudice (2005)
was her first feature film. A brief appearance in Hollywood film followed with
the action movie, Doom (2005), and the suspenseful Fracture (2007) But she returned
to smaller films with exceptional performance in three films: An Education
(2009) and Made in Dagenham (2010) and the lead role with Paul Giamatti in
Barney's Version (2010).As she continued her stage work in England, Pike
appeared in the spy spoof, Johnny English Reborn (2011) as well as portrayed
the role as "Andromeda" in the sci-fi epic Wrath of the Titans
(2012). Pike returned to action-films as the lead actress alongside Tom Cruise
in Jack Reacher (2012).
