Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi (born September 1, 1970) was born in Chennai. Lakshmi's parents divorced when she was just 2 years old. Her mother emigrated to America to escape the guilt of divorce in India. Lakshmi lived for two years with her maternal grandparents, in Chennai prior to her move to the United States. Her parents divorced later and she has a younger half-brother and a half-sister from her father. Lakshmi shares her name with the Hindu goddess wealth and prosperity. She was born in New York, then moved to Los Angeles with her stepfather and mother. She would return to India for a short period of time each year to visit her relatives. Padma Lakshmi first became interested in acting around the time of 29 in 1999. Her first role was in 'Figlio di Sandokan, an Italian pirate movie.
